STAGE 01 · PROBLEM

Is the problem real?

CANONICAL PROBLEM

Coordinating group availability and turning vague plans into committed actions is painful due to endless back-and-forth in group chats.

FREQUENCY
Multiple repeated complaints in the post and comments.
INTENSITY
Users explicitly describe existing tools as bloated/overkill and mention workaround behavior.

PAIN TRIGGERS

Group chat scheduling discussions drag on without commitment or action.
Privacy concerns prevent users from connecting personal calendars.

EVIDENCE

I built an app that finds when everyone in your group is free — then books everything automatically. Finally shipped it. Would love feedback.

SideProject15

"Personally, I would not connect my calendar, but I would probably utilize it with friends if there was a way to just select the times"

comment

I could see this being useful for tight-knit families. Personally, I would not connect my calendar, but I would probably utilize it with friends if there was a way to just select the times I want to be available in the app without calendar integration. Love the layout and the color scheme, super inviting. One suggestion, your intent here is solid (getting folks together), but what you've actually created is much larger than I think you realize. If truly functional, you've effectively done two things. First, created a genuine virtual assistant; let clients input their schedules and book automatically, setup meetings and travel, handling conferences. Second, employee staffing/scheduling. Each person hands their availability, the AI fills shifts to make sure you're at 100% coverage with the fewest employee pain points, or even the fewest employees... B2C is admirable, but I think B2B is your true revenue lever, and much easier (higher price point to solve their pain, meaning fewer users required to hit your target monthly).

Context

Quickly identify when everyone in a group is free and automatically book activities, trips, or events without manual coordination.
Endless manual messaging in group chats to poll availability.
Manually selecting availability times in-app instead of full calendar integration.

Current Workarounds

Endless back-and-forth polling in WhatsApp/iMessage
Manually listing available times in group chat
Using generic polls that never lead to commitment
Abandoning plans after too many messages

STAGE 03 · MARKET

Where's the gap?

EXISTING SOLUTION GAPS

Group chats create discussion but fail to detect common availability or force commitment.
Manual calendar sharing reveals too much private information (event names/details).
No automatic notification or booking when a group window opens.

OPPORTUNITY & VALUE

Why Now

Strong repetition around group chat coordination failures and plans dying without commitment.

Value Proposition

Focuses on privacy-first selective availability instead of full calendar integration, plus auto-progression from free times to committed action.

Product Direction

A mobile app where friends share selected availability windows privately (no full calendar access), auto-detects overlapping free times, suggests activities, and sends commitment nudges to lock in plans.

RISKS & ASSUMPTIONS

Top Risks

Adoption in casual social contexts

Friends may resist downloading another app for casual plans preferring to stay in existing group chats.

SEV 4
Privacy concerns limiting sharing

Users wary of any availability sharing despite selective approach.

What this score means

This idea scores in the upper-middle range of opportunities surfaced by MonetScope, with a validation sub-score of 7/10 against 3 independently sourced evidence signals. A "promising" rating usually indicates a real pain has been detected and discussed in the open, but the pipeline did not find enough signal to flag it as urgent or high-frequency. These opportunities can still produce excellent businesses — they often correspond to "boring" problems that established players have ignored — but the founder should expect a longer customer-development cycle to confirm willingness to pay.

Why this matters for SaaS founders

It sits at the intersection of "automation", "collaboration", "freelancers", which makes it relevant to a specific subset of founders rather than a generic horizontal opportunity. SaaS opportunities at this stage tend to win on the strength of their initial wedge — a single workflow that the target user runs every week, where the existing solution is either spreadsheets, a clunky incumbent feature, or a manual process they hate. The build cost is moderate; the distribution cost is everything. The MonetScope pipeline surfaces this category alongside other saas signals, which is why it appears here rather than in a generic "trending ideas" feed.

Scores are derived from real forum discussions across Reddit, Hacker News and X, weighted by evidence volume and signal quality. How scoring works

Frequently asked questions

Is "AvailSnap: Privacy-First Group Availability to Committed Plans" a real validated startup idea or just an AI-generated suggestion?

MonetScope does not generate ideas from a language model's imagination. Every opportunity on this site is anchored to specific source posts and comments from real public discussions — typically on Reddit, Hacker News, or X — where actual users describe the pain in their own words. The AI's role is structuring, scoring, and grouping those signals into a navigable opportunity, not inventing the problem.

How recent is the underlying data for automation?

MonetScope's spider pipeline runs continuously and surfaces opportunities as new evidence accumulates. The "Updated" date in the header reflects the most recent re-scoring of this specific opportunity. Most saas opportunities visible in the public catalog draw from discussions in the last 30-60 days; older signals are de-prioritized because user pain shifts faster than most founders assume.

What's the difference between "overall score" and "validation score"?

Overall score is a composite across six dimensions — pain, urgency, willingness to pay, market size, defensibility, and execution ease — designed to give a single number for triage. Validation score is narrower: it asks "how cleanly does the same signal repeat across independent sources?" An opportunity can score high on overall but lower on validation when one or two large discussions dominate the evidence; conversely, validation can be high on a smaller-overall idea where the signal is consistent but the addressable market is modest.
