What actually helped me was treating it like an interrogation before writing a single line of code, not "do you have this problem" but "what are you using right now to solve it, and what would make you leave that." commentoh mate i feel ya. my mate dave spent 6 months building a dog walking app, proper flash. launched and got 3 downloads from his mum. then he actually asked some dog owners at the park if they'd chuck him a fiver a week for it and not one said yes. that was a wake up call for all of us. i reckon you gotta sell before you code, even if it means just dm'ing people with a dodgy looking google form. now when i'm tinkering with an idea i just knock up a quick landing page with a fake buy button and see if anyone clicks. did that for a recipe saas idea last arvo and got 12 clicks but zero signups for the paid tier so i canned it. better to lose an afternoon than 3 months.
