It just doesn't add up. A well rounded enough dev can walk into most types of startups and just get their work done. They don't need to show some unique understanding of the market within some niche. That's the biz guys job, to then be communicated through the CTO. (A bit simplified.) Your point is that you want to be able to get hired as a developer, but you keep confusing that with business development, market research, validating startup ideas, and so on. And that's a very weird and convoluted path to simply getting hired as a dev.
