Wasn't this one of the tarpit ideas discussed by Dalton and Michael from YC? I don't say that so you stop building, I mean it more in the specific tarpit sense: the problem is real, almost everyone recognizes it, and that makes the idea feel much more commercially obvious than it actually is. I think the biggest issue you have is that you've accidentally stacked several hard problems on top of each other... You don't need one person to want Availa. You need one person to care enough to introduce it, then convince several other people to install/use it, then get everyone to share information about their calendars/availability, then create enough repeated value that somebody eventually pays. That seems like a brutal adoption chain. And then there's another hurdle here that I think is easy to underestimate: trust. Calendar data is personal. Even if Availa is perfectly private and secure, users still have to believe that before they've experienced any value. You're asking for a relatively high-trust integration to solve a problem most people currently tolerate with a group chat. 300 downloads is encouraging, but I'd be careful treating it as validation of the business. Downloads tell you the idea is understandable and interesting. Zero paying groups tell your something in the path from interest > habit > value > payment is still broken. I would stop trying to optimize conversion for a minute and make the problem much narrower. Find one type of group where scheduling is frequent, painful, and economically important enough that one person already owns the problem. Rec sports teams. Shift workers. D&D groups. Volunteer orgs. Parents coordinating something weekly... Whatever. Then sell to the **organizer**, not the group. Your customer is not the same as your user. If you can get 10 organizers with the same painful use case to use it repeatedly, you have something to work with. If you need 10 different groups to each be persuaded that coordinating calendars is important enough to change everyone's behavior, you may be fighting the market rather than the product. I wouldn't quit because of 300 downloads and zero customers, but I also wouldn't tell myself I just need to be more patient. At this stage, I'd assume the current offer/distribution model is wrong until customers prove otherwise.
