I've had, almost the same thing happen. I made an app for myself to help me with my hobby. Decided to put it on the app store to figure out how it works etc and made it into a basically free app for others doing my hobby. Every single feature in it is free. But I figured I will add a few ones later so that there's a reason to get a pro subscription. A few days ago I look into my Google developer dashboard and see someone paid a yearly sub.
