Possibly. I have a slightly different take on why the MetaVerse idea never really got ground. The biggest problem is that it never really had a specific idea of what it might be. The idea also started gaining traction around the year 2000 when SecondLife and things like that rolled out. It had two handicaps at that point - aside from not knowing what it wanted to be - most businesses were still trying to figure out if and how a basic web site could make money. At that time, the only really profitable businesses on the web were in the niches around celebrity and porn. Businesses already got suckered into a 10K or even 100K web site and were still trying to figure out how to get that investment to pay out. When Zuckerberg came up with his idea - sure the tech had evolved a bit, but there was still never any clear reason to do it. Maybe for fun, but not for profit. So - while I do still believe there's a huge future in what you're describing, I think it needs to not be driven by some broad "This is the future, it's going to have something for everyone!" and more of a "Here's what it can do now and you can get in and help shape what the future looks like (while easily capitalizing on something that's already there, known, and tested)." So yeah - that case study does need the sort of reframing you're describing - but it has to not be for what they need alone - it has to be for what they need and what the metaverse you're creating can actually fulfill. Figure that part out and IMO, you could be the next big name. G.
